Success By 6 in the Fraser Canyon
An Early Childhood Development (ECD) Community Liaison works in the community to help increase awareness about the importance of the early years; and to encourage the whole community to take part in supporting families as they raise their young children.
The Community Liaison works with several community partners including Success By 6 to help ensure that families have access to information and resources. The Fraser Canyon ECD Liaison also currently represents the Fraser Canyon on the Success By 6 Council of Partners.
How has Success By 6 improved the lives of Fraser Canyon children and families?
* In 2004, Success By 6 provided funds for educational gifts at Fraser Canyon Family Place
* In 2006/07, Success By 6 provided funding for an afternoon nap program for Kindergarten children at Boston Bar Elementary/Secondary School.
* Success By 6 has provided funding to Almer Carlson Pool to purchase equipment for a tots swimming program in the summer of 2008.
* In the fall of 2007, Success By 6 provided funding for The Parent -Child Mother Goose Program at the Fraser Valley Regional Library in Boston Bar.
The Community Liaison supports families in the community by informing and linking a project with resources either inside or outside of the community. They are equipped to help with solution building and offer assistance to parents and organizations, either through connecting them with those who may help or by offering personal assistance whenever possible. Liaisons have many great ideas for low-cost ways that everyone can be involved in creating a "family friendly" community.
If you have a "bright idea" for families, or would like to participate with the advisory H.A.N.D.S Committee or Success By 6, parents and service providers are welcomed and encouraged to attend local meetings at Fraser Canyon Family Place and monthly meetings in Hope.
If you have a project in mind, the ECD Liaison might be able to suggest a few strategies, or even introduce you to some other like-minded people who might assist you.
